How to prepare amaranth by age

  1. 6–9 months

Simmer in plenty of water (about 1 part amaranth to 3 parts water) until it forms a soft, thick porridge. Offer on a preloaded spoon or stir into fruit purée or yogurt.

  2. 9–12 months

Serve as porridge, or mix cooked amaranth into soft patties and muffins.

  3. 12 months+

Porridge, baking, or stirred into soups. Popped amaranth is best mixed into yogurt rather than eaten dry by the handful.
